Morse, Chalmer Eugene, 92, of Burton, Michigan, died Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Hurley Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Valley Church of Christ. Pastor Jeff Switzer will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Friday at Rossell Funeral Home and 1 p.m. Saturday at the church until the time of the service. Burial to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Chalmer was born in Flint, Michigan on July 28, 1926, the son of Lionel and Ethel (Mees) Morse. He proudly served in both the United States Army and Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from Michigan Bell after 31 years. Chalmer was an avid craftsman who loved using his woodworking talents to help anybody who needed it. He was a mentor to many young men over the years and will be missed by many.
Chalmer is survived by his children, Richard (Sebastian) Morse, Karen (Steven) Sweezea, and Barbara (Dennis) Scott; grandchildren, Nathan (Amanda) Sweezea, Orea (Emily) Sweezea, Jesse (Rebecca) Sweezea, and Jaimie (Marcus) Smith; and great-grandchildren, Weston Chalmer, Walker, Breckin, Stone, Cayden, Sawyer, Ellerie, Roya, and Camden. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty Glee, and his great-grandson, Chase.
