CUSENZA, Mildred – of Clio, age 91, died Monday, September 23, 2019 at Medilodge of Montrose. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 27, 2019 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio, Michigan. Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio and on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions can be made to the East Side Mission or Messiah Lutheran Church.
Mildred was born March 12, 1928 in Goshen, Virginia to the late Russell and Dorothy (Plott) Gage. She grew up in Mt. Morris, Michigan and graduated from Beecher High School with the class of 1949. Mildred also graduated from Mott Community College with a degree in Nursing. On May 30, 1947 she married Frank Cusenza in Flint, Michigan and he preceded her in death on July 30, 1994. Prior to her retirement, she worked as an LPN for McLaren-Flint Healthcare with 25 years of service. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio, Michigan. She was a member of the Genesee Star Quilters Guild and also hosted the Millie’s Sew What’s Quilting Group in her home. Mildred enjoyed sewing, ceramics, doll making, and volunteering at Crossroads Village.
Surviving are: Children, Karen (Robert) Peterfi, Lynda (James) Kot, Kathryn (Roxythe) Harding, LeAnn (Kevin) Draper; 12 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; Sister, Marion Hollar; Sister in law, Shirley Gage; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Frank Cusenza; Son, Jack (Cindy) Cusenza; Brother, Charles Gage; Sisters, Betty (Clifford) Hatfield, Janet (Eugene) Rodden; Brother in law, John Hollar.
