WOOD, James Quinton - Of Flint, age 88, died Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Westfall Adult Foster Care.
Funeral service will be held 11:30am Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Steve Wood officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation 10am Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
James was born in Quitman, Arkansas on October 29, 1935, the son of the late Umstead and Wincie (Hargett) Wood. On June 2, 1956, he married Audrey Harty at New Hope General Baptist Church in Flint. James served his country in the United States Army. He retired from AC Spark in 1990 after 36 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #651. James loved to garden and was also an avid sports fan, enjoying watching the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers and the Michigan Wolverines.
Surviving are sons, Steven D. and wife Melanie Wood and Daniel G. and wife Jennifer Wood;
Daughter, Kelly D. and husband Jeffrey Henneke;
8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren;
Sisters, Doris M. Gilbert and Carolyn S. (Arlon) Baker;
And many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey.
