Caverly, Frederick of Flushing, age 62, died Sunday, February 16, 2020, at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2020, at Rossell Funeral Home. Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Fred was born in Flint, Michigan on April 6, 1957, the son of Dennis and Josephine (Keeler) Caverly. A carpenter by trade, Fred enjoyed wood working and building special projects for his children and grandchildren while also teaching them how to build themselves. One of his favorite projects to work on was creating Pinewood Derby cars with his sons. Fred enjoyed being outdoors and sharing his love of this with his children teaching them to hunt, fish and escaping to the beach and up north whenever possible. Fred’s favorite place was his lifelong friend Freddy’s family cabin in Glennie. Many memories were made there swimming, fishing and taking drives to watch the sunsets along the high banks of the Au Sable River. Fred enjoyed bowling and shooting pool and was active on many leagues throughout the area and shared these activities with his children as well, teaching them to play at a young age. Fred always had a passion for motorsports, watching NASCAR, riding and racing motorcycles both on and off road, and teaching his children how to ride. He was a proud dad and grandpa and loved to share stories and photos of his children and grandchildren.
Fred is survived by his children, April and husband Chris Doornbos, Quentin and husband Josh Caverly, Cody Caverly; grandchildren, Jackson and Abigail Doornbos; father, Dennis Caverly; brother, Russell Caverly; and nephew, Dennis Caverly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine.
