DOWNEY, Thelma L. Collins - Of Flint, age 86, died Friday, May 11, 2012, at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held 12 Noon, Tuesday, May 15, 2012
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road,
Michael Anderson and Garfield Cooper co-officiating.
Visitation Monday 5-8pm at the funeral home.
Burial in Indian Creek Cemetery in Jacksboro, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or American Cancer Society.
Thelma was born in Harlan, Kentucky on July 2, 1925, the daughter of William and Bertha (Hatmaker) Anderson, and was a resident of the Flint area since 1952. She was employed by General Motors for 27 years, retiring in 1979.
Surviving are daughters, Jenifer (John Stefl) Hohas of California and Donna (Robert Savoy) Collins of Flint;
grandchildren, Lindsey (Ryan Davidson), Bryan Hohas and Nicole and husband Kurt Meyeraan;
3 great-grandchildren, Grace, Seth, Peyton and Jaxon;
sister, Bea Jordan of Tennessee;
2 brothers, Billy and wife Susie Anderson of Tennessee, Bobby Anderson of Linden;
sister-in-law, Geraldine Anderson of Tennessee;
many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jim Collins, in 1989; second husband, Charles Downey, in 1999; granddaughters, Kristi Burnham and Kimberley Parker; her parents; sister, Edna Shown; and 2 brothers, Clark and Everett Anderson.
