Deanna Dee (Walker) Freeland of Flint and Lapeer, age 80, died Sunday April 26, 2020 at Lakeview Manor, Tawas. Private Family services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday May 1, 2020 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison, Pastor David Weir officiating, followed by burial in Watertown Township Cemetery. Due to CDC Guidelines of social distancing and limited gathering at one time, the family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon till 6:00 pm Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home, we understand those whom may or may not want to join us and we respect your personal decisions. Those desiring may make contributions in Deanna’s memory to Hospice of Helping Hands, West Branch, Michigan.
Deanna was born in Flint Michigan on January 17, 1940 the daughter of the late Robert & Gerneth (Smith) Walker and had resided in Flint for many years. She also spent over thirty years in the Lapeer area and enjoyed wintering in New Port Richey after her retirement. She was joined in marriage to James Nunn on November 15, 1958 and started her family of four children; she later married Arnold Freeland on June 17, 1971 which added six additional children to blend their family, and he preceded her in death in January 2000. Deanna was a graduate of Kearsley High School Class of 1958, and attended both Mott Community and Baker Colleges majoring in accounting and computer science. She was employed by both Lapeer Hospital and later McLaren Hospital retiring in 1995.
Surviving are children; Linda (Ron) Kennedy of Tawas, Susan Riggs of Flint, Diane (Stacy) Rhines of Davison, and Mary (Brad) Hawkins of Durban, South Africa. She also leaves step-children; Ronald (Debbie) Freeland of Davison, Arnold Freeland of North Branch, Randy (Pam) Freeland of Davison, Pamela Wilson of Tazwell Tenn, Daniel Freeland of Davison, and numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by son Jerry Nunn, and stepson Patrick Freeland. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Tawas Village and Lakeview Manor for their care and compassion provided to their mother.
